Ostend is one of Belgium's most popular seaside resorts and the port provides easy access to the city. There are plenty of public transport options available from outside the port ready to take you into the heart of the beautiful city of Ostend. The place is very popular with Belgians taking a short holiday, especially in the summer. The seafood restaurants in Ostend belong to the best Belgium has to offer.

The railway station is located next to the terminal and houses a tourist information office.




Public telephones, lavatories and a taxi rank are positioned just outside the terminal, while inside you will find postal services, currency exchange facilities, a duty free shop, a café and a left luggage service.

Facilities for disabled passengers are available at the port, with wheelchair access throughout the terminal. Passengers with special needs can arrange assistance with boarding, however disabled passengers are recommended to contact ferry operator or the port authorities prior to arrival at the port.

Ostend is situated in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, Flanders. During the summer season, the five beaches are crowded with sun-bathers and swimmers. The majority of the tourists visiting Ostend come from Flanders and Wallonia. The city is an ideal holiday destination for the entire family boasting excellent restaurants, shops, hotels and attractions. The region of Ostend can easily be explored by car.

Transeuropa Ferries operates eight daily crossings between Ostend and Ramsgate in England. Transeuropa Ferries are the only passenger ferry operator in both Ostend and Ramsgate. Their ferries offer transport for cars, caravans, mobile homes, motorcycles and cargo vehicles. Coaches and foot passengers are not accepted. The number of passengers is limited which makes the journey convenient with plenty of space to relax. Sailing time between Ostend and Ramsgate lasts about four hours. Nowadays Ferryways only operates freight services from Ostend to both Ipswich and Killingholme in England. The route between Ostend and Dover is no longer available.
